Choose to Care
A new day in America has just set in
Some think the world ending, repent their sins
What does this new chapter hold? We all wonder
I think we’re all hoping it isn’t a blunder
But some aren’t taking that chance and moving down under
Did we just elect someone like dumb and dumber?
What really will change?
How bad can it be?
I want to think about this literally
Our country’s not great, we’re already bullies
Our politicians, like puppets
Run with string, ropes, and pulleys
Big business prevails through political lines
You support them with every nickel and dime
Everyone is up in arms about who voted for who
But your true vote comes from your wallet you fool
Where you spend you paycheck actually matters
That money goes up a long chain of ladders
At the tippity top, at the height of it all
Are the real men in power making the calls
They run everything from corporations to nations
Influencing laws allowing deforestation
This isn’t a new thing, it’s not a surprise
For decades in fact, it’s been under our eyes
We choose not to see it, and not to believe
The things outside America that we don’t see
We say “That’s not real, how can it be?
No one in this world has it worse off than me”
We have everything given to us, it’s a mess
How in the world are we all so depressed?
I’ll pose this query and make my bet
We had none of these problems before internet
Depression I mean, not the destruction of trees
That’s been happening for centuries
What I am saying is that we’re not doomed
Simply keeping our course of
Consume consume consume
Don’t be too hurt or get too offended
The world is still here, it hasn’t yet ended
But if we don’t change how we think, how we act
We are doomed very soon to be under attack
Not from zombies, or wars, or other countries
But from Mother Nature, she’ll cure the disease
Let’s not let that happen, outside’s a great thing
I want it to last for all my offspring
Go outside, talk to strangers, give hugs
The only thing that can save us is the power of love
