One Epic Mystery

One Epic Mystery

Today I have only one thing on my mind. A brain puzzle that is nothing short of a rigorous game of Clue combined with the toughest of all Where’s Waldo books. Honestly, I am having trouble locating the Wizard or the candle stick, let alone Waldo or the killer. What is this deep mystery you may find yourself asking? Where in the world is Merton?

If you are not aware who this cleverly disguised piano playing improviser is, click his name above. It will take you to the video that contains his breakout YouTube hit and the starting point of our puzzle. I will not dive too deep into this mystery right now as it contains a small piece of an application I am currently working on. All I know for sure, is that this story holds a lot of potential and is worthy of my future time and exploration regardless of the application results.

Lindsay Robertson, a writer for New York Magazine’s Vulture Blog, posted a story six days after that first video about a conspiracy regarding Merton’s identity. Claiming evidence that: “He sings like Ben Folds. He plays piano like Ben Folds. He looks like Ben Folds.” and after seeing the picture in the article, I can see her point.

This of course has since been disproved and as of September 22, 2014 the Merton trail goes strangely cold. My day thus far has been spent investigating the topic and I feel like there are no solid leads on his disappearance. The comments on that final September 22 video are mostly people asking this same question I find myself enthralled with. Where’s Merton? A few people have been commenting such outlandish thoughts as “did this dude die?” Which I cannot disprove but is unlikely due to his mysterious nature.

Well Merton, the hunt is on. Back to the the mystery!
