Equal Weight

Equal Weight

What do you want out of your life? Fun question that one is… I feel like I am not the only one asking myself it on a regular basis. The nice thing though, is that I am finally beginning to feel like I have some answers to it.  I want responsibility. I want to push my limits as a writer, friend, brother, adventurer. I want to impact the lives of others in a kind, meaningful and positive way. I want to help people.

Getting this far has of course been a journey. One that, as all elevator rides have, has had its ups and downs. Yeah..I went there, and you should have some wine with that cheese. But up until this point it’s only the beginning. Each new day is the start of everything you’ve ever accomplished accumulating into what makes you who you are now. I like looking at the present like that. It grants me the perspective that every second of your life should carry equal weight. No time is more valuable than any other time. Going to the grocery store is just as important as visiting the Eiffel Tower.

Sure, most of you may disagree with me but at the end of the day, but isn’t it all just part of the journey? The ongoing adventure that is this silly thing we call life. Treating all of our moments equally may not sound that great. But imagine if you treated walking the dog as if you were going on a cruise, making breakfast like you were rafting the Colorado River or doing laundry like you were going to a concert? Kind of makes me want to go do some chores.

A lot will have changed by this time tomorrow. But most will still be the same. Slow progress is good, you have to play the long con. The tortoise always beats the hare.
